Joinville está com a Operação Limpa Pátios do Departamento Estadual de Trânsito do Estado de Santa Catarina – Detran/SC, em ritmo acelerado no combate à dengue. Serão destruídos cerca de 800 veículos em Joinville nesta primeira etapa, um dos maiores pátios do Estado. Até o momento já foram destruídos e destinados à reciclagem 5.484 veículos (carros, motos, caminhões, etc.), em pátios de 20 municípios catarinenses.
A Operação está sendo realizada em parceria com a Associação de Pátios de Veículos Apreendidos e Reboques do Estado de Santa Catarina, nos 310 pátios espalhados pelo Estado (da PRF, de Prefeituras – públicos e licitados, e de delegacias de polícia).
Para o presidente do Detran/SC, Kennedy Nunes, essa é uma campanha essencialmente de saúde pública, mas que também envolve meio ambiente e economia. Segundo ele, a operação está tendo apoio da população por meio de denúncias:
