‘Dia Mundial da Água’ tem plantios de mudas em São José

Nesta sexta-feira (22) em que se comemora o Dia Mundial da Água, a Prefeitura de São José dos Campos realizou plantios de mudas de palmeira juçara junto a nascentes da cidade. 

As atividades fazem parte da programação da Semana da Água 2024 que segue até este sábado (23), e contou com oficina de saneamento sustentável, mostra comunitária de curtas-metragens do Programa de Revitalização de Nascentes e plantio de mudas em parques municipais e no distrito de São Francisco Xavier.

Para a professora do núcleo de Educação Ambiental, Alessandra Marins, as ações reforçam a importância das árvores para a proteção da água.

“As árvores formam a mata ciliar e protegem a água, uma referência é que elas agem como os cílios que protegem os olhos, ou seja, é a mata que protege os rios e as nascentes. Envolver os alunos e a comunidade neste plantio é importante para que eles tenham um sentimento de pertencimento”, explicou.

“Os alunos da Emefi Dosulina que participaram nesta semana, por exemplo, já foram do projeto de Revitalização de Nascentes e hoje compartilham com os colegas tudo o que aprenderam, além de fazerem o plantio no parque que é próximo da escola, um local que conhecem e frequentam”, destacou Alessandra.

Os estudantes da Emefi Dosulina Chenque Chaves de Andrade, que fica no Altos de Santana, realizaram plantio no Parque Alberto Simões, no mesmo bairro da escola, juntamente com professores, equipe técnica da Secretaria de Urbanismo e Sustentabilidade e moradores da região. 

A programação para este sábado é de plantio às 8h na região leste, na área verde da nascente do Jardim Mariana (Rua Jerônimo Mendonça Ribeiro, altura do nº 110 – Campos de São José). Às 10h o plantio de palmeiras será junto à nascente do Jardim Satélite (Rua Antônio Aleixo da Silva – em frente ao campo de futebol), na região sul. 

A palmeira juçara (Euterpe edulis), espécie nativa do Brasil, desempenha um papel fundamental no ecossistema da Mata Atlântica. Suas sementes são dispersas por aves e mamíferos, contribuindo para a regeneração da floresta. Atualmente, a espécie encontra-se ameaçada de extinção devido à exploração descontrolada.

A Semana da Água foi uma realização da Prefeitura com apoio do Ecomuseu, Rotary Oeste, Rotary Satélite, AME Satélite, empresa PRL e Lixo Zero. 

Programa de Revitalização de Nascentes
São José dos Campos promove desde 2006 a revitalização de várias nascentes, localizadas em áreas públicas urbanas, por meio da revegetação de suas Áreas de Preservação Permanentes, possibilitando a melhoria das condições da Bacia do Rio Paraíba do Sul. 

Atualmente 38 nascentes são acompanhadas através de um trabalho de proteção e conservação em parceria com a comunidade local, outras secretarias municipais, instituições e empresas.

O Programa Revitalização de Nascentes, por meio da Lei 10.108 de 2020, permitiu a formalização de parcerias com a iniciativa privada e com organizações da sociedade civil, possibilitando a manutenção e ampliação do programa.

Além da proteção dos recursos hídricos, o programa tem propiciado melhoria na paisagem e no microclima urbano, abrigo para a fauna silvestre, entre outros benefícios.
