Estreia no próximo ano, em data a ser confirmada, uma das grandes apostas dos serviços de da Disney no Brasil. Na esteira do sucesso dos e baseados em casos reais, agora é a vez de contar a história da Turma do Balão Mágico, grupo que marcou uma geração com os lançamentos musicais e um programa na TV Globo.

Preparada para o Star+, a “A Super Fantástica História do Balão” se propõe a contar a história do surgimento do Balão Mágico com imagens inéditas e de arquivo. Além disso, depoimentos de amigos, familiares e artistas que fizeram parcerias históricas com o grupo e um reencontro especial dos quatro integrantes.

Splash visitou as filmagens e conferiu o momento do reencontro dos “balões”. Simony, Mike, Tob e Jairzinho se reuniram em um teatro da capital e que puderam conversar sobre as lembranças — boas ou nem tanto — que guardam da época em que foram as crianças mais famosas do Brasil.

A visita foi realizada em meados de julho, antes de Simony revelar seu diagnóstico de câncer. Ricardinho, que substituiu Tob e teve rápida participação na reta final da existência do grupo, não fez parte do encontro.

Entre as histórias a respeito da Turma do Balão Mágico, a exclusão de um dos integrantes por ter crescido rápido demais, a entrada de um integrante após um apelo pela libertação do pai sequestrado e o impacto do sucesso não apenas nas vidas deles, mas nas dos músicos com os quais cantaram, como Djavan.

O começo de tudo

Simony foi a primeira a surgir para o grande público. Hoje com 46 anos, a cantora tinha apenas 3 anos quando iniciou a sua carreira artística cantando no programa de Raul Gil. Aos 5 anos, graças ao grande sucesso que fazia, ela recebeu um convite de Tomas Muñoz para fazer parte de um grupo infantil. Era o início do Balão.

Na mesma época, em 1982, o jovem Vímerson Cavanillas Benedicto, que depois ficaria conhecido como Tob, começou a fazer sucesso em comerciais de TV e programas de calouros.

Ele foi levado pelo irmão para um teste assim que este ficou sabendo que havia a ideia para um grupo musical formado por crianças. Tob foi aprovado e imediatamente convidado para fazer uma dupla, ou espécie de “casal”, com Simony, eternamente a única menina da formação.

Quando o primeiro disco já estava quase pronto, Mike foi adicionado à equação. Seu surgimento, aliás, é um tanto peculiar: ele apareceu fazendo um apelo na televisão para que seu pai, o criminoso britânico Ronald Biggs, fosse libertado do cativeiro de um sequestro no Caribe. A comoção que seu pedido causou fez com que ele fosse convidado para integrar o Balão.

O primeiro disco vendeu mais de 1 milhão de cópias. “Acho que é uma coisa meio mágica mesmo, o Balão era mágico”, reflete Simony, em entrevista a Splash. “A importância vem de uma relação entre pais e filhos, eles vão passando de uma geração para outra. Hoje, existem crianças de três, quatro anos que amam o Balão Mágico, e a internet ajuda muito.”

O sucesso do primeiro LP fez a Turma do Balão se tornar prioridade para a gravadora CBS — hoje Sony.

No segundo disco, participações como de Djavan e Baby Consuelo fizeram com que as as crianças atingissem novos patamares de alcance nacional, e eventualmente eles ganharam um programa na TV Globo, o “Balão Mágico”, que ficou no ar entre março de 1983 e junho de 1986. O programa apresentou o personagem Fofão a gerações inteiras que se dividem entre amá-lo e guardarem traumas e medos de sua figura.

“O que foi o Balão e o que nós fomos não existe mais. Não tem nada assim hoje em dia. Acho que esse diferencial faz com que as crianças continuem se apaixonando a cada dia.”Simony

“Acho que estava na hora de alguma coisa assim ser feita, né?”, ri Mike. “O Balão tem uma trajetória muito boa, e rola aquela coisa da memória afetiva com as pessoas. O bonito do Balão é que todo mundo tem alguma coisa gostosa para lembrar”, diz o ex-integrante do grupo.

Mike Biggs recupera uma conversa que teve com Djavan, que atribui parte do sucesso que tem hoje à parceria com o grupo, na clássica faixa “Super Fantástico”.

“Eu tive um papo com o Djavan em Londres uma vez, e ele falou para mim que grande parte do público dele hoje o conhece por causa do Balão. As crianças não sabiam quem era e de repente ele surgiu, e foi aquela coisa grandiosa.”Mike Biggs

Para o eterno Tob, que hoje trabalha com arte, voltar para o universo da empreitada infantil traz uma nova dimensão do real impacto causado pelo Balão Mágico.

“Eu sempre achei que um documentário seria uma forma de amarrar tudo o que já fizemos, e fiquei contente quando veio o convite. Acabamos voltando àquela época, e relembrando coisas das quais não tínhamos muita noção”, reflete.

“Nessa volta em que fizemos alguns shows, temos outra dimensão do que realmente foi o Balão para as outras pessoas. Quando crianças, não entendemos muito bem o que está acontecendo, onde estamos indo. Agora, já adulto, é muito mais significante. Fico muito feliz de participar.”

Como a puberdade tirou Tob do Balão Mágico

Dos cinco álbuns gravados pelo Balão Mágico, Tob participou de três. Antes da gravação do quarto disco, a gravadora acabou retirando-o do grupo, pela mudança no tom de voz ocasionada pelo início da puberdade.

“Eu estava entrando na adolescência, então a voz engrossou, eu estava começando a esticar. Eles estavam pequenos e eu lá, gigante”, brinca. “E com isso eu comecei a sentir um pouco de vergonha, pois as mudanças no físico passaram a me incomodar. Por isso, quando saí, não achei tão negativo.”

Na época, uma outra pessoa já fazia parte do grupo: Jair Oliveira, filho de Jair Rodrigues, começou a ganhar destaque na mídia depois de uma apresentação que fez com o pai na Itália. Convidado a ocupar uma vaga que teria sido de uma menina, ele se tornou o Jairzinho.

“Foi um grupo musical e televisivo que marcou tanto uma geração que eu acho que faria todo sentido contar essa história, como está fazendo agora”, reflete Jair. “A ideia é contar como o grupo foi formado, retomar os sucessos e as dificuldades, tudo o que um documentário pode esclarecer para as pessoas.”

Hoje, Jair Oliveira mora nos Estados Unidos com a esposa, a atriz Tania Khalil, e as filhas do casal, Isabella e Laura. Mesmo distante e com uma outra vida, ele voltou para o Brasil especialmente para as filmagens do documentário, que ele não considera um retorno nostálgico. Além disso, é dele a autoria de uma canção inédita, “Infância”, escrita especialmente para o programa.

“O engraçado é que, para mim, não é sobre voltar para o mundo do Balão Mágico, não é bem essa a sensação”, reflete.

“É um mundo que faz parte da minha história, então eu nunca me soltei realmente dele. Assim como todas as outras coisas que acontecem na minha carreira, eu guardo com muito carinho, e é uma alegria poder falar sobre ele e esclarecer para as pessoas, e para nós mesmos, alguns aspectos de como essa história tão bonita da infância de muita gente aconteceu.”

Jairzinho conta que a função do documentário é de retomar a importância histórica de um material, e tece uma comparação com a sensação que teve ao descobrir o tamanho da importância que seu próprio pai tem para as outras pessoas.

“Quando eu vi um dos documentários [sobre Jair Rodrigues] prontos, o do Rubens Ewald, foi que eu entendi através dos depoimentos, das imagens. Eu me emocionei com o tamanho desse cara. E eu acho que com o documentário do Balão Mágico vai ser meio parecido”, compara, citando o documentário “Jair Rodrigues – Deixa Que Digam” (2020).

“Eu como filho o acompanhando não tinha uma dimensão de verdade”, explica. “Então, depois, quando reúnem os fatos e alguns depoimentos em um documentário, é que você fala: ‘Caramba! Esse cara é meu pai!’ Com o Balão pode ser parecido porque acabamos marcando uma época ali, junto a outros grupos como o Trem da Alegria. Acho que época em que havia muita criança fazendo conteúdo para criança vai ser bem explorada no documentário.”

O futuro

Encontro de gerações em 'A Super Fantástica História do Balão': integrantes originais encontram crianças que recriam sucessos do grupo Imagem: Divulgação/Star+

Um dos pontos-chave de “A Super Fantástica História do Balão” é um encontro de gerações que acontece nos palcos do teatro.

Em determinado momento, os quatro veteranos se encontram com quatro crianças, selecionadas em um teste de elenco, que seriam uma nova formação da Turma do Balão Mágico. Neste encontro, cada criança ocupa o espaço que era de um dos quatro adultos, e a proposta é trazer uma troca de experiências.

No trecho das filmagens acompanhado por Splash, as quatro crianças apresentavam-se no palco para os olhares atentos de Simony, Mike, Tob e Jair. Uma sessão de perguntas e respostas que se seguiu mostrou a diferença de gerações e a ingenuidade das indagações dos mais novos. Uma das crianças perguntas aos adultos se as roupas que eles usavam eram semelhantes àquelas que as próprias crianças vestiam.

“Só não tinha a mordomia de ser de um material tão leve”, responde um dos quatro adultos. O clima anárquico que se instala mostra por que, afinal de contas, a leveza da Turma do Balão Mágico se transformou em algo contagiante, mesmo entendendo todo o aparato que havia por trás para fabricar músicas e histórias vendáveis.

“Uma das crianças que estava aqui participando, que tem nove anos se eu não me engano, disse que começou a chorar quando falou com a gente. Olha isso! Ele é mais jovem que a minha filha mais nova e se emociona com o Balão Mágico”, concluir Jair.
