O presidente francês Emmanuel Macron participou da cerimônia de inauguração do Institut Pasteur de São Paulo (IPSP), na tarde desta quarta-feira, dia 27 de março.
“É um passo muito importante para o Institut Pasteur. Acredito que a busca por vínculos acadêmicos é um traço importante de uma história de parceria científica que existe entre nossos países. Todos esses pesquisadores desenvolverão uma produção incrível, mais forte do que as vicissitudes dos tempos em que vivemos. Acredito no desenvolvimento de uma estratégia de saúde integrada, unindo saúde humana, saúde animal e o conhecimento dos ecossistemas naturais. Parabéns aos nossos parceiros brasileiros por este trabalho, ao fazer isso, trabalhamos para a ciência, por algo ainda maior que a relação entre França e Brasil, porque é universal”, afirmou o presidente Macron.
Sediado na Cidade Universitária da USP, em um espaço de 2 mil metros quadrados, o Institut Pasteur de São Paulo conta com 17 laboratórios – sendo quatro deles de nível 3 de biossegurança –, uma unidade de bioinformática e vários laboratórios multiusuários. Quando estiver em pleno funcionamento, abrigará mais de 80 cientistas do Brasil e de outros países, que realizarão pesquisas de nível internacional sobre doenças transmissíveis, não transmissíveis, emergentes, reemergentes, negligenciadas e degenerativas, inclusive as doenças neurodegenerativas progressivas.
