Mato Grosso do Sul é destaque na preservação do Cerrado, com menor índice de desmatamento ilegal entre os nove estados do Brasil que detém o bioma.

Os dados foram apresentados hoje (27), pelo Ministério do Meio Ambiente e Mudança do Clima, em Brasília (DF), durante reunião entre o governador, Eduardo Riedel, e os ministros Rui Costa (Casa Civil), Marina Silva (Meio Ambiente e Mudança do Clima), Simone Tebet (Orçamento e Orçamento), Carlos Fávaro (Agricultura e Pecuária), Luciana Santos (Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação).

“Foi uma reunião importante sobre todas as ações de crescimento da atividade agrícola no bioma Cerrado, e de desmatamento. Nós temos uma legislação, o Código Florestal Brasileiro, e não se pode confundir desmatamento legal e ilegal. No que diz respeito a desmatamento ilegal, o Mato Grosso do Sul foi citado como exemplo por ter um dos maiores índices de análise do cadastro ambiental rural (CAR) de todos os estados que detém o bioma Cerrado. E também temos o menor índice de desmatamento ilegal entre os estados, porque o sistema de monitoramento está automatizado e funcionando. O nosso órgão ambiental tem dado licença sob análise do CAR o que é importantíssimo para que a gente mantenha essa característica e garanta aos nossos mercados a capacidade de monitorar qualquer tipo de ilegalidade”, afirmou Riedel.

O secretário-executivo do MMA, João Paulo Capobianco, confirmou que o MS é o estado brasileiro – entre os nove que possuem o bioma Cerrado –, que tem o maior número de CAR analisado e o menor número de desmatamento ilegal.

Atualmente o Cerrado, no Estado, mantém preservação de 25% da área total remanescente do bioma. “Foi apresentada pelo governador a ocupação atual do Cerrado, com 22 milhões de hectares, onde a grande expansão neste momento está na transformação de pastagens degradas para agricultura, e área de florestas plantadas. Esta é a grande modificação que tem ocorrido no Cerrado de Mato Grosso do Sul”, afirmou o secretário Jaime Verruck, da Semadesc (Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, Desenvolvimento, Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação”.

Para avançar nas ações de preservação do bioma, foi criado um grupo de trabalho de monitoramento do Cerrado, que terá como um dos membros o governador Eduardo Riedel. “Vou acompanhar de perto, porque é uma discussão que interessa muito ao Mato Grosso do Sul e ao Brasil”, disse Riedel.

O encontro, realizado no Palácio do Planalto, também reuniu os governadores Mauro Mendes (MT), Ronaldo Caiado (GO), Ibaneis Rocha (DF), Romeu Zema (MG), Wanderlei Barbosa (TO), Jerônimo Rodrigues (BA), Rafael Fonteles (PI) e Carlos Brandão (MA).

O foco do encontro foi apresentar a situação do Cerrado brasileiro, e seu desmatamento, principalmente nos estados do Maranhão, Tocantis, Piauí e Bahia (conhecidos como Matopiba).

“Foi identificada uma forte expansão do desmatamento ilegal naquela região. Com o posicionamento de todos os governadores se entendeu que o foco é fazer uma ação forte de combate e estabelecer grupos de trabalho para acompanhar a questão. E no âmbito nos secretários de Meio Ambiente, foi criado um grupo de trabalho para tratar da tecnologia do CAR e o Siscar (Sistema Nacional de Cadastro Ambiental Rural), é um ponto fundamental para a gente melhorar essa relação de comunicação entre os estados e o governo federal”, disse Verruck.
