A Prefeitura de Sorocaba participou, na manhã desta sexta-feira (1), da inauguração das novas Promotorias do Ministério Público do Estado de São Paulo (MPSP), a Promotoria Regional do Meio Ambiente e a Promotoria Regional dos Direitos Sociais, instaladas na cidade durante ato solene realizado no auditório da Universidade Paulista (Unip) de Sorocaba.

O anúncio contou com a presença do procurador-geral de Justiça, Mario Sarrubbo, que considera o início das atividades um avanço para o Ministério Público. De acordo com Sarrubbo, as Promotorias poderão agir de forma mais estratégica e resolutiva, levando em conta a perspectiva regional.

A Promotoria Regional do Meio Ambiente atua na condução de questões referentes à formulação, ao acompanhamento e ao controle de políticas públicas ambientais de âmbito regional, assim como, podendo avaliar as atividades e obras de impacto ambiental realizadas na área de alcance agora compreendida.

Já a Promotoria Regional dos Direitos Sociais age na identificação, prevenção e repressão a ações, ou omissões, que coloquem em risco os direitos e as garantias fundamentais previstos na Constituição Federal, assegurando o direito à educação, à saúde e à inclusão social dos cidadãos.

O chefe do Executivo acompanhou a solenidade e homenageou o Ministério Público do Estado de São Paulo – Comarca Sorocaba com votos de congratulações, pelos serviços prestados no município.

Também estiveram presentes o vice-prefeito, os secretários municipais de Cultura (Secult), do Meio Ambiente, Proteção e Bem-Estar Animal (Sema), da Cidadania (Secid), de Segurança Pública (Sesu), de Comunicação (Secom), Jurídica (SEJ), além de representantes de outras pastas. Participaram, ainda, outras autoridades, como o promotor de Justiça do Meio Ambiente Tietê/Sorocaba, Marcelo Cassola, e o promotor de Justiça Regional dos Direitos Sociais de Sorocaba, Thiago Aily.
