Um ex-policial armado com uma arma e uma faca invadiu um berçário/CRECHE no nordeste da Tailândia na quinta-feira, matando a tiros pelo menos 30 pessoas, incluindo crianças, antes de matar a si mesmo e sua família, disse a polícia.
O agressor, armado com uma espingarda, uma pistola e uma faca, abriu fogo contra a creche na província de Nong Bua Lam Phu por volta das 12h30. (0530 GMT) antes de fugir do local em um veículo, disse a força.
“O número de mortos no incidente com tiros… é de pelo menos 30 pessoas”, disse Anucha Burapachaisri, porta-voz do gabinete do primeiro-ministro tailandês.

O coronel da polícia Jakkapat Vijitraithaya, da província onde o ataque aconteceu, identificou o atirador como Panya Khamrab, um tenente-coronel da polícia que ele disse ter sido demitido da força no ano passado por uso de drogas.
Jakkapat disse que havia 23 crianças entre os mortos, com idades entre dois e três anos.
O assassinato em massa ocorre menos de um mês depois que um oficial do Exército matou a tiros dois colegas em uma base de treinamento militar na capital Bangkok.
Embora a Tailândia tenha altas taxas de posse de armas, tiroteios em massa são extremamente raros.
Mas no ano passado, houve pelo menos dois outros casos de assassinatos a tiros por soldados em serviço, de acordo com o Bangkok Post.
E em 2020, em um dos incidentes mais mortais do país nos últimos anos, um soldado matou 29 pessoas em um tumulto de 17 horas e feriu dezenas de outros antes de ser morto a tiros por comandos.
Esse tiroteio em massa estava ligado a uma disputa de dívidas entre o sargento-mor Jakrapanth Thomma e um oficial sênior, e o alto escalão militar se esforçou para retratar o assassino como um soldado desonesto.
