(Reuters) – A Universal Music Group anunciou nesta quinta-feira um acordo para adquirir o catálogo de músicas, gravações e filmes do guitarrista e compositor de rock Frank Zappa por um valor não revelado.
Artistas de renome como Bob Dylan, Sting e Neil Diamond no passado recente venderam seus catálogos para gravadoras, ajudando-os a gerar mais receita com licenciamento, acordos de marca e royalties.
A gravadora disse que seu braço editorial de música Universal Music Publishing Group receberá o catálogo de publicações de Zappa, incluindo o álbum “Joe’s Garage” e as músicas “Cosmik Debris” e “Uncle Remus”, entre outras.
Na última década, a Universal Music Enterprises, empresa global de catálogos do UMG, e a The Zappa Trust reeditaram muitos dos álbuns icônicos de Zappa em vinil e disponibilizaram seu catálogo de músicas para streaming e download.
