O Chelsea venceu o City por 1×0 e foi o grande campeão da temporada.

A Liga dos Campeões da UEFA de 2021–22 é a 67ª edição da maior competição européia e a menina dos olhos dos maiores clubes do planeta. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, o PSG e tantos outros, colocam como principal foco da temporada, ganhar a competição. Já, considerando-se o nome CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, é a 30ª temporada.
O penúltimo campeão da competição foi o Bayern de Munique, que venceu o PSG na final e ainda humilhou o Barcelona, com uma goleada histórica nas semifinais da competição. Já o último campeão foi o Chelsea que surpreendeu o poderoso Manchester City, que era, até então, o favorito.
Neste ano, a final acontecerá em São Petersburgo, Rússia, mais especificamente no Estádio Krestovsky. Entretanto, a disputa deveria acontecer na Allianz Arena em Munique, Alemanha, mas devido ao adiamento e realocação da final de 2020, houve então a mudança de sede, com São Petersburgo hospedando a final de 2022. Cabe lembrar que o vencedor da Liga dos Campeões da UEFA de 2021–22 se qualifica automaticamente para a fase de grupos da Liga dos Campeões da UEFA de 2022–23, e também ganha o direito de jogar contra o vencedor da UEFA Europa League 2021-22 na UEFA Super Cup de 2022. No caso, neste ano, o Chelsea já foi alçado para a fase de grupos.
Assim, a competição começa com uma fase de playoffs, mata-mata, qualificando alguns times para a fase de grupos. Esta fase acontece até o dia 25 de agosto. Já a partir do dia 26 de agosto, a fase de grupos se inicia com o PSG, City, Bayern, Barça, Real, Juventus, Milan e Liverpool como favoritos.
